The Analog Bag Because My Phone Does Not Need to Come Everywhere With Me
Share
According to a quick Google search, an analog bag is a tote or bag filled with non-digital items like books, puzzles, journals, and craft supplies such as knitting or watercolours. It is designed to help people reduce screen time and engage in offline activities, especially during downtime like commuting or waiting.
When I first heard the term analog bag, I laughed because this is something my mom has been doing for years. Long before it had a name or became a trend, she carried around non digital entertainment and passed on her love of physical hobbies. It turns out she was ahead of her time.
Lately I have been trying to focus on stepping away from social media and spending more time working on physical things. Less scrolling and more creating. With that in mind, here is what I would put in my own analog bag.
What Is in My Analog Bag
-
A book, usually a romance novel. Is it dramatic? Yes. Will I say I am only reading one chapter and then read five more Also yes.
-
A music player. Ideally an MP3 player in the near future. Listening to music without notifications popping up feels like a small act of rebellion.
-
A nice snack. This is essential. Creativity and patience both improve with snacks.
-
A cross stitch bookmark kit. It is practical, comforting, and makes me feel like someone who definitely has their life together.
-
A notebook for writing. This is for thoughts, ideas, lists, and unfinished pieces I am convinced I will come back to someday.
-
A nice pen. Not just any pen. A pen that writes smoothly and makes even grocery lists feel important.
-
A crochet hook and yarn. Perfect for keeping my hands busy and my mind calm. Completing a project is optional.
Why I Love the Analog Bag ( Really it is my house at this point)
The analog bag is not about rejecting technology. It is about balance. It is a way to be present, creative, and intentional in a world that constantly demands attention.
There is something deeply satisfying about reaching for a book or a craft instead of automatically opening an app without thinking. It feels slower in the best way.
So here is to fewer screens, more hands on hobbies, and choosing small moments of quiet creativity. I will be over here stitching bookmarks, reading romance novels, and happily living the analog bag life.
Always stay warped and twisted as ever,
Eve
