When Real Life Hits Pause: How We're Supporting a Family in Medical Crisis
Share
This Isn’t Our Regular Content—But It Matters More
Here at Burnt Out Perfectionist, we usually talk about mental health, ADHD, perfectionism, and messy real life. But sometimes, something happens that’s so deeply personal and urgent, we have to hit pause on everything else.
A family we love is in crisis, and this blog post is our way of using our platform to help them.
Meet Lawson: A 6-Year-Old Fighter at BC Children’s Hospital
Lawson is six years old. He’s been playing hockey since U4, loves goofing around, and is the kind of kid who brings joy to everyone around him.
Recently, Lawson was suddenly airlifted to BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver and admitted to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). His parents, Nat and Katrina, have not left his side since. They’ve essentially been living at the hospital—away from home, work, and the life they knew—doing everything they can to be strong for their son.
His big brother Kooper, just nine years old, has been holding down the fort with extended family and navigating this scary season with more strength than any child should have to.
Why We Stepped Away from Content Creation
You may have noticed we took a break from posting TikToks, podcast episodes, and reels. The reason is simple: when someone you love is in crisis, you show up.
We’ve been working behind the scenes—reaching out to businesses for support, organizing donations, and helping this incredible family stay afloat while they care for their child.
But now, we’re asking you to help too.
Here's How You Can Support Lawson’s Family
A GoFundMe has been set up to help with the overwhelming costs of this medical emergency:
- Hospital-related expenses
- Travel to and from Vancouver
- Accommodation for family members
- Lost income while the parents stay at the hospital
- Meals, supplies, and care for Kooper back home

Even if you can’t donate right now, sharing the link on social media or through word of mouth makes a massive difference. Every view, every share, every prayer or kind thought—it all adds up.
A Final Word From Us
This blog post may not be part of our usual ADHD-life-messy-magic content. But if Burnt Out Perfectionist stands for anything, it’s this: showing up as you are, for the people you love.
We’ll be back to our regular podcast episodes and content soon. For now, our hearts are with Lawson, and we’re so grateful to have a community that cares.
Thank you for reading. Thank you for helping. 💛
